I took my first painting class as a sophomore in high school. I remember staring at the white canvas with my loaded paintbrush in my right hand. I wondered if I had any talent, as I watched my art teacher complete her first brushstroke, and I touched my brush to the canvas for the first time.
Within the first ten minutes of following my art teacher’s instructions, I realized I could paint. As the paint glided onto the canvas, I felt a new creative sensation ignite my mind and spirit. I would have never known about God’s gift of being able to paint pictures unless I had been willing to discover something new.
Learn What You Don’t Know
Even though we have ALL of Jesus inside of us when we accept him as our Lord and Savior, we don’t know that we’re responsible to work with him to learn how to love like he did and to mature our faith. We don’t understand that we must get to know him personally to learn how to live in his exceptional love. Our intimate relationship ignites the blessings, authority, and power we have through Jesus living in us.
God knew how difficult it would be for us to understand and live in his pure exceptional love in our imperfect human condition, so He sent Jesus to earth. Jesus lived in a limited body like us. However, he was fully man and fully God.
Jesus dwelled in the full love, truth, grace, power, and mercy of God in complete humility and dependence. Jesus lived his life showing us how to love God first in devotion and obedience, to love others as we love ourselves, and to share Christ’s love by living in the mature fruits of the Holy Spirit.
He lived among us as he taught us how to, proclaim his saving good news to the poor, to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free. Jesus met people right where they were without condemnation or judgment. He gave everyone an equal opportunity to receive his exceptional love without using force, manipulation, or guilt.
Learn to Let Christ’s Love Flow Through You
Christ gives everyone an opportunity to live in his love once we receive his Salvation. When he died and rose from the grave, he made it possible for everyone to be saved from the punishment of our sins. Jesus also made it possible for all God’s children to have continual access to Him.
When you asked Jesus to be the Lord of your life, your salvation made you a new creation and gave you your Christ-identity. As you live in-Christ, you have the blessings of Christ. You have direct access to your Father, God, in heaven, even though you live on this broken earth.
Pastor Bill Johnson, of Bethel Church, explains our direct access to God in heaven from the Scripture in Matthew 3:16-17 NIV. As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
Notice, the moment Jesus came out of the water, “heaven was opened.” There’s no Scripture stating heaven was closed. Think about this for a moment. The children of God are living under the open heavens every minute we are alive. There’s no separation between us and the love of God and Jesus even though they are in the heavens.
- How does this change the way you see God, Jesus, and yourself right now?
- How does living under an open heaven affect your understanding of having access to God’s pure love?
- What will you do to commit to living in their uninterrupted love?
Christ’s Love Will Never Change or Leave
Jesus chose to die on the cross to show you that you were worth dying for; even though he knew you will have doubts and questions, you will sin, and you may even deny him. Jesus trusted God’s love and plan, which will reunite us for all eternity when Jesus returns for his disciples. Once you are a disciple of Jesus, his exceptional love will be with you forever.
God’s pure love and Christ’s exceptional love will NEVER change regardless of what you think or believe, how you feel, what you see, or what you experience in life. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 NLT
Jesus is wanting to work with you every day. He’s waiting to teach you and to transform your broken love design into his exceptional love design. Let Jesus ignite his exceptional love in you. Take his hand and work with him to mature your faith and to thrive in his exceptional love.
